TEHRAN-E EMROOZ in an article about air pollution in Tehran asks: What measures should be adopted for the upcoming years? The editorialist says the choking air pollution in Tehran has drawn the attention of authorities, mass media and the people. To counter the pollution, officials declared holidays, introduced traffic restrictions, and even small airplanes sprayed water on some streets with heavier pollution, but authorities are impatiently waiting for rain. The columnist sarcastically says if the fight against air pollution is going to continue in this way, for the next year we should start praying for rain from now. The writer at the conclusion suggests that long-term, carefully studied plans are needed to reduce air pollution in the metropolis of Tehran.
SIASAT ROOZ in an editorial entitled “Where Are the Roots of Economic Corruption in Iran?” says once in a while fight against corruption becomes a topic of discussion by the mass media and then it is forgotten. The writer says the experience shows that the raising of the issue is politically motivated and there is no strong will to fight it and that’s why whenever the issue is raised by officials the society shows no excitement toward it. The writer emphasizes that “the main reason behind economic corruption is state economy.
